Type 2 Diabetes - Prevent Liver Disease to Help Prevent Heart Disease

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and aortic valvular sclerosis are both common in Type 2 diabetes and, according to a study reported on this month in PLoS One, there could be a connection. In nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fat accumulates in the liver. Usually it does not cause problems but it can lead to inflammation and scarring of the liver, which can obstruct the passage of blood through the organ and cause liver failure.
