The EU considered banning cloned animals in their entirety from the food chain in 2010 but on the grounds of cost and ability to control the ban was never put into place. Then in 2013 the EU without scientific proof to the contrary sanctioned the widespread use of products from cloned animal offspring. Now with clone offspring being too numerous to identify the EU Commission for Health is once again considering the ban on cloned animals, are they in danger of closing the stable door after the cloned animal has bolted? This article briefly considers the matter.
