Dangers Of a Tonsillectomy

This article describes the dangers, associated with the surgical removal of tonsils. Surgical removal of tonsils or tonsillectomy is a very controversial procedure, it was routinely performed in the old days under the pretext of the need to prevent the "recurring throat infections". Recurrent throat infections can be a real problem for children; according to the simplistic opinion, tonsils are "at fault" and they have to be removed, whereas in reality this is merely the result of an overexposure of tissues in the throat to the cold air and cold liquids. The solution here is not the removal of tonsils, but proper techniques of drinking cold fluids and breathing techniques (not to breathe through the mouth in cold weather)
